My Darling Daughter

I've come a long long way to feast my eyes upon you
To remove the worry and the weight they laid on you too

My little darling darkness and heaviness was on my brow
I give thanks to God I feel relief will finally let me rest now

I've never been a man who worried about the small things
So seeing you so safe and sound and I can forget all things

I don't always show appreciation for the special things I know
But to mark this time in all our lives I plan to let it show

What is the most important isn't the wealth that we accrue
Nor is it anything we do when compared to value most true

I've been shown a million ways so kindly what to value most
So to the welfare of my daughter I would like to raise this toast

Believe that though I may not always be present near you
Darling child when you are troubled speak and I will hear you...
