Not Withstanding Words...

       Not Withstanding Words...

             W. R. Schaefer Jr.

She said she would love him forever
Forever is a long, long time

She said that she'd be true forever
Some mountains take as long to climb

Don't be angry with me. It's all true
If I were an orangutan, I'd climb too

What are those lollypops adorning,
a giraffe's head?
Perhaps he's dialing in, FM instead?

Let's go to the zoo or find a jungle gym
She will love you truly if you stay slim

Is every love just an explosion yet due
Maybe she loves you now, so stay new

Let us rent a theme park only for today
We have spent a dream but we can't pay

I'm still scheming, I want to see the zoo
It's obscene, and hinges on not making 72!

It takes money to claim bankruptcy notice
that funny phrase 'bankruptcy notice' see?

O' You're losing me, get off my family tree
Did you only see my name in the Obituary?

A morbid sense of humor you have, Mr. D.
Let's imbibe dispensary, foredoom are we!

She told him her love was withstanding
Now old, and withering together, her love
was yet at her command...
